It’s Wednesday!

This week is only halfway through and we’ve already done so much. Everyone is hard at work preparing for the final show. To correct some mistakes from last week, Rebecca’s choir group is doing a compilation of songs sung at the farewell shows from the past 10 years to the present, and Georgia came up to me during the week and told me her host brothers’ name is not Christian, but Christopher (thanks Georgia!).

This Monday we had a first in the history of the program. This year we’ve made it a point to introduce the students to as much of the Oviedo community as possible (like in other years), but this year we did it a little differently. Us Professors live in a multi-generational facility that houses anyone from students to the elderly who live in the building permanently. Thanks to Moisés our amazing Logistics Coordinator and the staff at the Ovida residence, we were able to bring the students to our residence to interact with the elderly in a “field day” type afternoon.

The pictures below are from our time spent at Ovida. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves and those from the residence were so, so happy to have had us. Our students are truly something special.

Up in the Clouds of Oviedo

¡Saludos a todos! It’s been a busy but wonderful time this week for both students and professors. The students spent the weekends with their families and hit the ground running! They’re still a bit tired but they are all adjusting amazingly well. Eli and Jack both told me they went to the beach with their families, Georgia, Lexi, Margarita (Micala), Jayme, and others went to a fiesta with their families and got to eat some really delicious food, and all of them got many a good night’s sleep between our arrival and today. They were actually trying to one-up each other with how much sleep they got! Clara won with a whopping 14 hours of sleep from Saturday into Sunday. Second and third place were Georgia with 12 hours and Amia with 10. As I’ve said, everyone is adjusting slowly but surely! On Monday we all went on a small tour of Oviedo and everyone was enchanted. Flight Details

Tomorrow is the big day everyone! Here are some things that we mentioned during orientation that you may find helpful in preparation for departure. A.    Flight Information (Flight #3764) IND → JFK    (Flight #415) JFK  → MAD Our flight from the Indianapolis International Airport departs tomorrow morning at 11:30 AM. (EDIT) Please arrive 3 hours before the departure time (8:30 AM) . Be sure that the student is equipped with their passport, identification, and copies of these and other important documents that the student may need. Students will carry their passport copies on their persons throughout the program. From IND, we are scheduled to arrive at JFK at 1:41 and will have a 6-hour layover. During this time, we will go over some last-minute information with our students. As this is a long layover, make sure that your student has something to help them pass the time. From JFK, we are scheduled to depart at 7:45 PM and arrive in MAD at 9:15 AM...
