Oh what a week!
The students wrote some wonderful Ode’s to Vegetables for
Literature and we decided (with the students help) to include some of them in
our Oviedo Summer Magazine. Moisés chose 10 Ode’s and the chosen few read them
aloud in front of their peers.
In their explorations of Oviedo, the students discovered
this “amazing” spot called Dufen Dagels that has everything! Everything here is
loosely defined as ice cream, coffee, and all things sweet and delicious. When
I couldn’t finish my chocolate because it was too sweet, Georgia was all too
happy to help me out.
Tyler tried to match my poof!
This was by far our favorite part of the excursion: Los Picos de Europa. We were all so in awe of how amazing this view was.
This is by far my favorite photo! Colin was super excited to experience it and the photo captures the moment
Cangas de Onis!
Can you read what their signs say? :)

Tomorrow we have our kayaking adventure at el Rio Sella! This coming week is going to be full of excursions and adventures. Stay tuned!

¡Saludos a todos! It’s been a busy but wonderful time this week for both students and professors. The students spent the weekends with their families and hit the ground running! They’re still a bit tired but they are all adjusting amazingly well. Eli and Jack both told me they went to the beach with their families, Georgia, Lexi, Margarita (Micala), Jayme, and others went to a fiesta with their families and got to eat some really delicious food, and all of them got many a good night’s sleep between our arrival and today. They were actually trying to one-up each other with how much sleep they got! Clara won with a whopping 14 hours of sleep from Saturday into Sunday. Second and third place were Georgia with 12 hours and Amia with 10. As I’ve said, everyone is adjusting slowly but surely! On Monday we all went on a small tour of Oviedo and everyone was enchanted. We saw the Cathedral, El Parque de San Francisco, and we saw plenty of statues along the way. Our favorite statue by ...
Oh what a wonderful and bittersweet week it’s been. The students scrambled this week to spend as much time with their families as possible, going on road trips, getting together for parties, and dancing the days away. Classes ended this past Friday and final rehearsal for the final show got underway. The students finished memorizing their lines, their steps, and their harmonies to give their host families a goodbye that they would forever remember and cherish. The show signaled the rush to prepare and pack for our journeys. On Wednesday we found ourselves in Segovia, 3ish hours south of Oviedo and about 2ish hours from Madrid. The change in weather was drastic! No more green hazy mountains but hot deserts and blazing sun. Our visit to the Alcázar was has been by far my favorite visit. Armors lined the walls, intricately designed ceilings welcomed us in every room, and stories of old Kings who married their nieces kept us attentive at every turn. With full bellies in Madrid...
